1. WHAT'S UP AT REDBIRD

Redbird in the News

More than one person has said, ÒHey, IÕm hearing about Redbird all over the place.Ó We like that.

Denice Martin's article, ÒWords of  comfortÓ appeared in the Easter Sunday edition of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.  ItÕs about the three moms, Lynn Mehring, Wendy Walters and Karen Kelroy, who lost young sons and found the courage to write about it. You can read the article online at http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=587353

Our own Robert Vaughan was captured on film as he was reading from his story ÒDinah WonÕt You BlowÓ during the Redbird WriterÕs Showcase, April 17th.  The picture appeared in the April 26th South Shore NOW section of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The WritersÕ Showcase attracted a lot of attention. Hosted by Robert Vaughan, Felicity Libre, Jeanne Sacken and Carol Wobig, ten writers read their work to a full house.  Readers included Robert Vaughan, Aline Mohr, Susan Maciolek, Laurel Landis, Tom Biel, Felicity Librie, Judith Zuckerman, Pam Parker, Bill Miller and Kirk Farber.  Our thanks to them for sharing their work with us.  Authors Elaine Bergstrom, Shauna Singh Baldwin, Lauren Fox and John Lehman were on hand for the audience to visit with during intermission.

WUWM played a cut from the Story Corp interview David and I did a few months ago. ItÕs on our website Ð along with links to the articles noted. Look on the upper right of the main page, under ÒMedia.Ó http://www.wuwm.com/media/lake_effect/le042007_d.mp3

And now, more news!
